What is animation?

Animation is the art of making images that appear to come to life on screen. It features in all kinds of media, from feature films to commercials, pop videos, computer games and websites.
Animators normally train on the job, working with more experienced colleagues to learn and develop new techniques and skills. It is essential for animators to keep up to date with new developments in the industry, and there are many relevant short courses.

As many animators are self-employed, career progression depends on their skills, versatility and ability to promote themselves. With experience, animators may become lead animators or animation directors. They may also move into specialist areas such as animation special effects. There may be opportunities to work overseas or to teach animation.

There are many kinds of animation ,2d (like Disney movies’ Brother Bear, Bambi, Snow White… and), 3d (like Big Hero 6,Up…) and stop motion animation (Nightmare before chistmas,Paranorman,Coraline…) to name a few. It’s also common to mix 2d and 3d animation on movies and shows now a days.
Being an animator is hard work, but for the ones who like it it’s rewarding to see your projects or/and characters you (and sometimes others) worked so hard on.

Tyrus Wong and Bambi

Tyrus Wong was the person who was Disney’s ‘Bambi’ main concept artist.
By using soft-edged, ethereal watercolor shapes for the forest scenes rather than the highly detailed renderings that had traditionally been used, Wong introduced a new, more subtle style—a look and feel that appealed to Walt, who wanted to do something different with Bambi. Wong’s creations evoked emotional responses that were in tune with the beautifully dark and mysterious mood presented in Felix Salten’s,Bambi, A Life in the Woods, and his work was described by fellow artists as a kind of visual poetry and they weren’t wrong.

He passed away in 2016, when he was 106.He was widely considered one of the most celebrated Chinese American artists of the 20th century.
